Attended a conference at Hong Kong August 2012

IEEE International Conference on Teaching,Assessment and Learning for Engineering 2012 (TALE2012) (20-23 August 2012)

FPig attended the IEEE TALE Conference in Hong Kongbetween 20-23 August 2012. MPig tagged along and we had a lovely time in Hong Kong

It is an international conference that held eachyear in Asia-Pacific region. This conference attracted 100 participants fromall over the world such as Canada, Australia, the States, the UK, Middle East,China etc. This conference allowed me to extend my social network in anunprecedented way, share my ideas and learn from others from variouseducational backgrounds.

On the first day of the conference, all theparticipants witnessed the opening ceremony of the conference. Prof. MichaelLightner, IEEE Director and Vice President, Educational Activities, Dr Rob Reilly,President of IEEE Education Society and Prof Sorel Reisman, Past President (2001),IEEE Computer Society were among the honorable guests who joined us for thisremarkable occasion.
Prof. Michael Lightner delivered keynote speech onEngineering Education: Evolution and Revolution. Web 2.0 and Internet hascaused the fundamental shifts in education from information to communication.

Mypresentation was on the 4th day of the conference. I enjoyed the session themost where I received outstanding feedback from the audience. These feedbackare useful for me to improve my research outcome and extend my research into widercontext. My topic for the presentation  is of great interest to thereader hence, I was invited to to submit an extended version of the paper inthe International Journal of Engineering Pedagogy.

What I liked most is the door gift from the organizer. For the past conferences that I have attended, the organizers choosed to write the conference name in the bag and I understand that the main reason is to promote the conference. But we can hardly use the bag especially if they have a big wording of the conference name. However, for this conference, the door gift is the Belkin Swift laptop backpack. It costs between Rm90- Rm140.
