Ways to develop sensory play

Children in the old days were more adventurous because they play anything at home or outdoor. They played in the river, catch flying insects and even climb trees. They were learning their life skills and develop their sensory skills while playing.
Due to security issues, children nowadays are "confined" at home everyday. They are immersed with technology devices since they are young. Parents use to give the kids a smartphone so that they can sit still while having their meals. Even like my one year old girl, she knows how to turn on the TV by using a remote control because she observes how we do every day.
Experts say that it is not healthy to let the children exposed to the technology devices in their early age. Parents should reduce their screen time and let them interact with people in real life, let them have a lot of physical play to develop their sensory skills.
Play based learning is crucial for toddlers. Play based learning draws from children’s natural desire to engage in experiences based on their interests, strengths and developing skills. When children initiate play, they are more motivated to learn and develop positive dispositions towards learning.
The parents play an important role to arrange and facilitate play based learning program for children. Creativity in arranging play area with suitable play materials will catch the attention of children and increase their attention in playing.
Play based learning is an interesting area of knowledge to explore especially for parents. JOJO Cuties and D'Little are arranging a super mom sharing session on ways to develop sensory skills of Children through playing on next Sunday, 28/5 at Mikali Cafe. Feel free to join us!
