In The United Kingdom

Flew to the UK for 16 days. This winter is so wet, makes me miss the sun in Malaysia so much!

It is 9 degree now and yet I just felt so cold, so lazy to take shower and wash my hair. My hair has not been washed since the day I flew to here.

But weird to say that I do not have any jet lag problem at all. Slept at around 11pm and woke up at around 8 or 9 am.

The sales has started since Boxing Day. The baby n kids clothes are so cheap, just £ 1 per piece!!!

Nothing much has changed since I left here half a year ago. Except there is one Chatime In the town now...

Wreck it Ralph

We went out quite late for this weekend. After MPig came back from his badminton, he took a nap while we were enjoying the cooling breeze of the heavy rain.

We went to have our weekly fish and fish balls at the usual place. Initially we planned to watch Life of Pi but it wat already 8 pm. So we changed our mind to watch Wreck it Ralph.

It is a great movie and if you are a patron at the game arcade, I am sure you know most of the character.

The story is about Ralph who is wrecker and most people do not like him. He lives in garbage dump while fix it Felix is respected by everyone and will fix all the thing wreck by Ralph.

Ralph does not want to be bad anymore and want to gain respect from his friends.

He went to other game center and win the gold medal but eventually he was thrown to Sugar Rush. He met Vanellope and helped her to learn how to race....

I like the avatar of Vanellope very much.

White Wan Tan Mee at Bukit Mertajam Pasar

We like to eat the famous white Wan Tan Mee 云吞面 at Bukit Mertajam Pasar. It is just located besides the Pek Kong Temple 伯公前.

If you can't find it, you ask people at BM, they will sure to give your the direction.

The stall opens early in the morning around 6am and will sell until 1pm.

The small noodles cost rm 3 while the big noodles cost rm3.50.

The noodles is very Q. Even though the wan tan is not like those in HK which has the prawn but it has the tradition wan tan taste.

We like to go there to have a bowl of noodles and ta pao back for our family to eat.

Penang

Visited the heritage of Penang during Deepavali holiday. I like Mirrors of Georgetown. It is a creative approach to nurture and cultivate artist and the most important is the cost is not expensive.

There is around 8-9 wall pictures drawn by a French artist, Ernest Zacharevic. Then recently this has encouraged local artist to draw the slide pictures too.

Mirrors of Georgetown has attracted not only tourists but Penangites to visit this UNESCO heritage in Georgetown.

All the pictures are scattered around a few famous street in Georgetown.

Some tourists rent a bicycle to tour around the area. They not only have the chance to see the beautiful pictures but also witness the architecture of the pre war houses.

Penang government has set Sunday as "No Car Day" to allow tourists to walk or cycle around and enjoy the beauty of the area.

Visiting Penang is not complete without trying all the Penang delicacies such as laksa, curry mee, kangkung and cuttlefish, Chee cheong Fun, char Kueh Tiao etc.

Pearl City At Tambun

We went to see a showroom at Pearl City at Tambun. It is A double storey semi detached house with around 3000 sq ft. It costs rm 500,000 and above.

It is under construction and the developer is Tambun Indah.

We felt that the location is very strategic, 20 minutes to second link bridge, 10 minutes to the Tambun north south highway toll, a few minutes to the train station that will connect Padang Besar to Ipoh.

Pearl city will be developed in around 8 years time as a new township with an international school from Singapore.

Pictures are downloaded from http://www.tambunindah.com/html/projects_details.aspx?ID=665&PID=552

They will have road show at Queensbay Mall in december.

A weekend with my lover

One utama smsed me to collect the auto renewed one card since October but we just do not have the time to collect it.

Yesterday, we purposely went to One Utama to collect one card and spend the RM 15 Sakae Sushi voucher . We had some sushi and teriyaki chicken squid.

We had late tea because we just too lazy to leave our comfort home. The weather was so cozy!

After that we went to Aeon to buy some veggie and seafood because we plan to have steamboat.

I do not like GSC cinema. The seats are very narrow and there will be half an hour advertisement before the movie. So we went to MBO to watct Rise of the Guardian. The chairs is wide and we can remove the divider too.

Attended a conference at Hong Kong August 2012

IEEE International Conference on Teaching,Assessment and Learning for Engineering 2012 (TALE2012) (20-23 August 2012)

FPig attended the IEEE TALE Conference in Hong Kongbetween 20-23 August 2012. MPig tagged along and we had a lovely time in Hong Kong

It is an international conference that held eachyear in Asia-Pacific region. This conference attracted 100 participants fromall over the world such as Canada, Australia, the States, the UK, Middle East,China etc. This conference allowed me to extend my social network in anunprecedented way, share my ideas and learn from others from variouseducational backgrounds.

On the first day of the conference, all theparticipants witnessed the opening ceremony of the conference. Prof. MichaelLightner, IEEE Director and Vice President, Educational Activities, Dr Rob Reilly,President of IEEE Education Society and Prof Sorel Reisman, Past President (2001),IEEE Computer Society were among the honorable guests who joined us for thisremarkable occasion.
Prof. Michael Lightner delivered keynote speech onEngineering Education: Evolution and Revolution. Web 2.0 and Internet hascaused the fundamental shifts in education from information to communication.

Mypresentation was on the 4th day of the conference. I enjoyed the session themost where I received outstanding feedback from the audience. These feedbackare useful for me to improve my research outcome and extend my research into widercontext. My topic for the presentation  is of great interest to thereader hence, I was invited to to submit an extended version of the paper inthe International Journal of Engineering Pedagogy.

What I liked most is the door gift from the organizer. For the past conferences that I have attended, the organizers choosed to write the conference name in the bag and I understand that the main reason is to promote the conference. But we can hardly use the bag especially if they have a big wording of the conference name. However, for this conference, the door gift is the Belkin Swift laptop backpack. It costs between Rm90- Rm140.

Luxurious May Meal

On one fine Friday lunch time, MPig dated FPig for lunch for the second time. FPig was craving for Japanese food. So we went to Sakae Sushi at Sunway Pyramid to have our lunch.

We felt amazed that each table has a ipad 2 for customers to order their food.

We had sashimi,

sushi of the month,

 squid

and eel....

We had a free RM7.99 dish when we liked their new menu by waving the facebook like page to them.

In conjunction to Earth Hour 2012, coincidently we were in lowyat plaza, surveying for some IT gadget, we had the chance to claim free frappucino at Starbucks by checking Foursquare at any Starbucks outlet between 8:30-9:30pm.
Fun fun, two frappucino has saved us rm 28!!!!
We ordered caramel and green tea flavor.

Fish Manhattan Market fish and chips

Fpig saw the fish manhattan market fish and chips promotion, rm 6.99, original price is rm14.99.

The promotion only lasted for two days, 29 & 30 March.

So we decided to go before the promotion end. 1 utama does not have fish manhattan, so we dicided to go e-curve. The parking is rm2 for five hours.

Fpig likes the fish and chips, the portion is big enough and really worth rm6.99.

Then we also ordered cream cheese mussels, rm10.99 for fours medium size mussels and bread. I do not think it worth the price.

MPig had baked fish with rice and vege, quite delicious.

The total price is rm 40.35, only rm50 and above will accept credit card.

Then we watched Wrath of The Titan at Cathay Cinema. It is a good effect movie. Story line is just normal.

IKea Restaurant

This is a place that I insisted to go long time ago but MPig kept on giving excuses that the restaurant is actually in the middle of the showroom and need to walk a big distance only can reach bla bla bla.

3/3/2012 finally I successfully forced and dragged him to go with me.

We parked at Tesco at the opposite of the road. Now Tesco started to charge for those who do not shop at there.

But if you buy rm5 stuff from Tesco and still within 3 hours grace period, you still allowed to park for free.

When we reached Ikea Restaurant at around 6pm, there was a long queue.

I went to queue for food while MPig went to wait and reserve table to eat. It is a self service where I waited for nearly 20 mins only reached my turn

I ordered salmon which is something I missed most when I was in the UK. It costed rm12.90 which I think it is reasonable price.

This is the whole bird chicken with chips that costed rm15.90.

Of cos there is the famous Swedish meatballs which costs rm5 for 5 pieces, rm10 for 10 pieces and rm 14 for 15 pieces. It comes with chips and cranberry sauce.

The softdrink costs rm1.50 free refill

There is the choice of coffee, cappuccino and juices too.

There is a lot of desserts such as the daim cake, cheese cake, muffin and Cinnabon bun. I wish to try but we were to full to try all. I wish to come again next time for dessert!

After our meal, I noticed that the queue was still very long. It is really considered economic price to have international quality food.
